Here's Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Ehh...I wasn't sure what I wanted for the background, I only knew that I wanted her to be earthbending in the foreground. I ended up just painting it so that it looks like the light source is coming from behind her. I'm pretty happy with it though, it gives it a more dramatic effect.
It does give it a more dramatic effect, I like it! I've only seen that show a few times but I would be hard pressed to not appreciate such a great piece of art!

I really like how you drew Toph ;; you made her look so pretty(because IMO she was a very pretty lil girl) And I love how this has a dynamic feel~
If you say dramatic i unno, Dynamic yes, but I think if you want the lighting more dramatic, possibly like darker shading I guess? With fairly more outlining(of le light). BUT MAYBE THAT IS I. As Dramatic lighting for me is more contrast nurhurrr :B
Btw I like how you did her hand pnting out to the audience ;O
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.

Thanks for the critique!
Glad you like the hand too, I kinda thought it was a bit too big. Maybe it's just me
