Here's Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Ehh...I wasn't sure what I wanted for the background, I only knew that I wanted her to be earthbending in the foreground. I ended up just painting it so that it looks like the light source is coming from behind her. I'm pretty happy with it though, it gives it a more dramatic effect.

It does give it a more dramatic effect, I like it! :D I've only seen that show a few times but I would be hard pressed to not appreciate such a great piece of art! :D

I really like how you drew Toph ;; you made her look so pretty(because IMO she was a very pretty lil girl) And I love how this has a dynamic feel~

If you say dramatic i unno, Dynamic yes, but I think if you want the lighting more dramatic, possibly like darker shading I guess? With fairly more outlining(of le light). BUT MAYBE THAT IS I. As Dramatic lighting for me is more contrast nurhurrr :B

Btw I like how you did her hand pnting out to the audience ;O

I thought the back lighting was more dramatic compared to no background at all :XD: but I'll keep the higher contrast in mind for future pieces ;)
